Yeezus Vs. Lorde: Singer BLASTS Rapper for 'stealing' stage design

Oh lordt....literally

Singer/songwriter Lorde is upset with Kanye West for allegedly “stealing” her set design. This past weekend, West and Kid Cudi performed together at the Camp Flog Gnaw festival in Los Angeles. The two captivated the crowd by performing inside a transparent glass cube suspended over the stage.

Well one person who wasn't feeling the glass box fantasy was Lorde who used a similar design during her 2017 Coachella festival performance, and then again on her Melodrama world tour. After learning of West and Cudi's performance, the moody melodist took to social media to let the world know how she felt.

Lorde said:

“I’m proud of the work I do, and it’s flattering when other artists feel inspired by it, to the extent that they choose to try it on themselves,” she wrote on Instagram, pairing images of her tour with images of West and Kid Cudi’s performance. “But don’t steal – not from women or anyone else – not in 2018 or ever.”

According to The Guardian, Lorde's stage design was manufactured by Tait, and designed by Es Devlin, who has frequently also worked with West in the past on his Touch the Sky, Glow in the Dark, Watch the Throne and Yeezus tours.

In an official statement, Es Devlin gave her sideof things, saying: “I admire both and see no imitation at work here: I think the more interesting point is that both artists, responding to our dis-jointed times, are being drawn to this gesture of the fragile floating room”

Then, there was the owner of Trak House, where the Kanye & Cudi performance was held, who gave Lorde the read of all READS!

Oop! Where is the lie though? Honestly, in this day in age of entertainment there is absoluteley nothing new under the sun, and because of this it's nearly impossible for expressions of art to not overlap here and there. This just seems to be one of those instances but who's to say?

Who's side are you on?
